Grown using OMRI inputs. These plants are suitable for greenhouse, indoor and outdoor growing and also makes for a robust houseplant.

This plant is an annual suitable when grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9 and grown as perennial in zones 10-11b.  While it grows as a perennial in zones 10a to 11b, it can be cultivated as an annual in colder zones (e.g., USDA zone 6) if planted after the last frost and harvested before the first frost. This flexibility is unexpected for a plant primarily associated with tropical origins.

When grown in zones 4-9, start in pots 4 weeks before last frost date either indoors or in a greenhouse or direct sow after danger of frost has passed.  Requires a minimum of 65 degrees F soil temperature to germinate. Plant by pressing on top of soil and don’t cover.   Mist to keep soil moist.
